The
Native American Tribes represent a special case, in their current
reality, hence this separate page. The
underlying theory of this site is that ethics & policy issuesand
approaches to addressing themhave evolved with human beings
and the rest of the world, and that understanding them today requires
taking that evolution into account. The Tribes occupy this
special place because (1) there is typically less division of essential
social responsibilities within a tribe and (2) there is moreand
more intimateinterference
with the exercise of Native American self-government from
external forces.
